It is a survival thriller where in a man finds himself trapped in an apartment on 35th floor in an uninhabited residential building with no electricity, water or food.
It comes from an acclaimed director like Vikramaditya Motwane who has given us Udaan( Ronit Roy)and Lootera (Ranveer, Sonakshi ).
It stars award winning actor Rajkumar Rao. Was screened in Mumbai Film Festival last year and received critical acclaim.
The movie is definitely a first in Hindi cinema and considering the director-actor duo , the expectations were obviously high. The movie ‘s plot is new and is pretty taut and engrossing. It’s been written with almost all possible logic to create the kind of situation that the hero finds himself in.
As an actor, Rajkumar always delivers. Here, he plays the earnest and gullible young man who practically walks into this horrendous situation in his desperation to get an apartment to win his ladylove. His innocence, his earnestness and to some extent, his foolishness, all seemed very convincing. The trauma he goes through brings about a changed, a more mature person in him who has overcome all fears.
But as viewers, though we were distraught by his trauma, we did not find the detailing in situations very convincing. There seemed a lot of ” it could have been this way ” kind of moments. But that does not take away the fact that there were lot of breath holding and squirming moments as well.
This genre is Motwane ‘s first. Cannot compare with his earlier two which were entirely different. It was good if not too great.
Overall it was engaging and would be a good one time watch, especially if thrillers of this kind are your cup of tea.
