Eli is a child Psychiatrist under tremendous emotional trauma of his wife’s recent death.
Noah is a little seven year old boy, who mysteriously keeps landing at Eli’s place. He is a psychologically troubled child with history of psychotic episodes.
Despite his own emotional stress and his decision to retire, Eli is impelled to take up Noah’s case because he has a hunch that Noah has some connection with him and his wife.
As he starts his sessions with the boy , the case becomes more difficult, the mystery gets more baffling and circumstances more eerie.On one hand, he is himself haunted with guilt and nightmares, on the other hand, he begins to discover secrets about his wife.
Noah’s condition worsens and so does Eli’s.
Eli ,a very pragmatic doctor himself, is baffled and obsessed about resolving this. He needs to uncover Noah’s past and his link to their own life to be able to resolve the trauma and is loggerheads with the hospital team and Noah’s mother regarding his approach to Noah’s treatment.
There’s no way Noah can survive without Eli’s help.
I haven’t watched such an amazingly twisted psychological mind bender in a long time.
The narrative is slow burn , keeps its own pace , peeling off layers and gradually increasing the tension. Scientific explanations and psychiatric terminology is constantly alternated with doubts that there could be more to this than just science.
Superb atmospherics add a genre bending touch. Your mind is constantly trying to guess the possible connections and plausible explanations.
Billy Crystal is phenomenal . From an emotionally disturbed man to a psychological wreck , he aces the show .
Jacobi Jupe displays superb restrain in portraying little Noah.
