Much much beyond all those Dhamaals and Golmaals , this one was an absolute kamaal ! (Tongue firmly in cheek )

In a nutshell:

To call this film slapstick, or hair brained or senseless or illogical would be an understatement of sorts considering that many films described with some of the above mentioned adjectives have actually entertained many or some of us in the past.

Pagalpanti crosses all barriers of pagalpanti.

The Pain :

Anees Bazmee , the man who has given us slapstick but hilarious comedies like No Entry,Welcome, Singh is King … alas.. took the title of his film too seriously this time, and the audience too lightly.

The foremost problem is there was absolutely no script. Neither was story, build up nor sequence or continuity on the agenda. The first 15 minutes were the most jarring. It didn’t get any better after that, you just get accustomed. Characters were rather thrown at us instead of being introduced. Songs were thrust in the narrative as per the whim. Scenes seemed just pasted together.

Right from the first scene , even before we could get our bearings , we are assaulted with senselessness of the first order , the kind that are generally reserved for the climaxes in such comedies where in people run amok, vehicles chase each other and fly in the air, and conundrum is considered to be funny. The punches fell flat and seemed unfunny and there was no cuteness in all that silliness.

The Gain :

Apart from the feeling of self-accomplishment that you could survive anything in the name of comedy, one deserves a certificate for having watched the worst comedy of the year .The social service angle where in you could save the rest of the mankind by your experience is an added bonus of course.

Performances :

Arshad Warsi , Saurabh Shukla and Anil Kapoor somehow dulled the pain.Out of the three meaningless female roles, Kriti’s was the only one that was noticeable. She looked cute as the silly bimbo-ish rich girl.

Unfortunately, all their performances aren’t enough to save the film.

Recommendation :

You can just read the list of pains and gains and decide for yourself.

If you still watch, I’ll be happy that it’s the industry’s gain .

If you don’t, I would be happy my review was not in vain.
