Bombay Velvet (2015)

Cast– Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Manish Choudhary, Kay Kay Menon,Satyadeep Mishra

Director-Anurag Kashyap

One shouldn’t go expecting it to be a movie in the league of Anurag Kashyap’s movies aka Dev D or Gangs of Wasseypur . In Fact it’s nowhere as compared to them .

Keeping the comparison aside …

As a period drama , the detailing ,the sets , the visuals are simply superb . The feel of that era has been painstakingly created .

The story is somewhat gripping and unpredictable too ..but .. there’s something grossly missing as it just fails to connect … Is dark and grey but not riveting enough .

You can see and feel the quality of the cinema but keep waiting to get wowed . But that doesn’t happen .

Ranbir has done his possible best ….Anushka is passable ( though I personally feel her as a misfit ) .Karan Johar , though has tried hard , but has failed to portray the greyish or the sinister tinge required .

Anurag Kashyap might have got swayed this time but that doesn’t take away the class and style of this movie .
