Ginny Weds Sunny

A breezy rom-com that revolves around a boy who is desperate to get married and a girl who has no intentions to.

Cast – Yami Gautam, Vikrant Massey, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Rajiv Gupta, Mazel Vyas, Suhail Nayyar

Director – Puneet Khanna

Writers – Navjot Gulati, Sumit Arora

Sunny (Vikrant) aspires to open a restaurant and get married (that being a condition put up by his shop owner father to finance his restaurant).

Ginny (Yami) is a flamboyant free bird rejecting prospective grooms arranged by her match maker mom Shobha (Ayesha Raza), is insistent only on a love match and secretly pines for ex-boyfriend cum current friend to present the ring.

The film then follows the story of how Shobha and Sunny conspire to make Ginny fall in love with Sunny.

The film remains engaging and entertaining. The dialogues are humorous & light. They bring smiles & mild chuckles sometimes.

What I also liked was the bright, sunny feel of the story with no unnecessary melodrama to add weight. It’s a look good feel good kind of film.

But despite the above factors, I would say it suffers from mediocrity and something that I would call “oh so seen before“ kind of vibes.

The writing seems a major letdown and doesn’t let the film soar above a certain level.

Vikrant and Yami look good together. Yami looks very pretty. Ayesha Raza and Rajiv Gupta lend good support in terms of humour.

Overall, It could be a good one time watch if you are in a mood to watch something recent, bollywoodian & breezy, as were my reasons for opting for it. Don’t expect to get wowed and it won’t disappoint you.
