IN A NUTSHELL:
Nothing better for cine lovers than to end the year with a wonderful film and that’s what Good Newwz does for you !
It’s a film where in the writing, the performances and direction, all come together in perfect sync to give a brilliantly, hilarious story about two couples trying to have babies through IVF.
PLOT :
Deepti & Varun Batra ( Kareena , Akshay) are upwardly mobile urban chic professionals trying to have a baby. When they resort to IVF , their world goes upside down , due to a sperm mix up with another Chandigarh based Batra couple Honey and Moni (Diljeet and Kiara) who are stark contrast. The latter are loud, open and loving though rough edged in terms of urban fashion and etiquette.
When Chandigarh Batras get overtly possessive for the other baby too , it leads to hilarious situations, much to the chagrin of Mumbai Batras.
The loveable and cute story goes onto to give us uproarious situations, emotional moist eyed moments and a smiling ending.
ANALYSIS:
Kudos to the entire team for having delivered their best .
The SCRIPT, SCREENPLAY and DIALOGUES(JYOTI KAPOOR) are the foundation. She’s one who gave the base story to Badhai Ho. Looks like she’s someone to look out for. The characters are well etched. The dialogues are hilarious. The comic quotient bang on. The emotional tug is perfect enough to relate to and bring in moist eyes.
RAJ MEHTA has been great with DIRECTION and he has co written the DIALOGUES too. He has marvelled at bringing together all aspects of the film including top notch styling of sets, locations, wardrobes, looks and performances of all characters. Applaudable debut .
Except for the wrong sized baby bumps , nothing seemed out of place.
The light hearted take on the sensitive subject of conception and adoption seems to depict not ideal but real life pressures and thoughts with a pinch of salt which I hope the makers do not aim to propagate. For once ,let’s just enjoy the film without nit-picking.
PERFORMANCES :
All the four stars deserve a muaah !
AKSHAY is at his comic best. Without having to resort to slapstick humour, he uses the situational comic quotient and dialogues to the fullest. Each expression of his in each frame is not to be missed.
KAREENA once again displays her maturity and finesse as an actress. Her expressions are so real life , so relatable, she makes you fall in love with her once again.
And , they both look soooo hot, stylish, chic and great together !
DILJEET plays the pure at heart, loveable and jovial Honey with ease. His natural performance wins your heart.
KIARA, as the beautiful, cute and innocent Moni looks perfect.
Tisca Chopra wins over Adil Hussain in their short roles.
The film’s music chart is a good combination of two groovy numbers and a melodious emotional one.
RECOMMENDATION:
Book your tickets friends. The film is an absolute laugh riot with some amazing dialogues and performances.
It’s going to make you laugh and chuckle like hell, make you leave the cinemas smiling and sated.
Score 9 on 10.
